Radio/TV interviews: I do interviews by phone (yes, I did
a TV interview by phone) or in studio if the schedule can be
arranged. My RTIR (Radio/TV Interview Report) ad has proved
very successful. Take a look at my Radio Sound Bites below
and my List of Interviews.
If you wish to schedule an interview,
call me at 512/632-4626 or send email to interviewrequest@the79scenario.com.
The following are the favorite
questions the hosts ask me at an interview along with my sound
bite answers. I can expand as needed extemporaneously, you tell
me what you want; I will give you the best interview I can.
What are your books about?
Memphis 7.9 tells the story of people who live through
an earthquake
Broken River tells a story of survival on the Mississippi
River
Why write about the central USA?
The 7.9 Scenario novels tell
why an earthquake in the central United States is ten times worse
than in California.
How bad will this earthquake
be?
A 7.9 magnitude earthquake would
be as bad as the one that actually happened December 16, 1811
That one made the Mississippi
run backwards
It created 10 lakes, including Reelfoot Lake
It rang church bells in Boston, over 1000 miles away
What can someone do to prepare?
First thing, learn what an earthquake
can do and how it does it;
my novels are the first to go into the nitty-gritty details of
earthquakes
-- read them and you will know what it is like to be there
Where can we buy your books?
Get a pencil and paper so you
can write this down

is the best place
www.amazon.com
www.booksurge.com
What will happen in our home
town?
I prepare for each interview
and do an analysis of the shaking intensity that could be expected
by the local audience. I make estimates of the casualties and
damage and how the locale would fit into the recovery efforts
Exactly what is The 7.9 Scenario?
It is a scientific calculation
of what a 7.9 magnitude would do to the entire central United
States, and as a result, to the entire USA economy.
How far away do you have to
be to be safe?
Memphis 7.9 describes damage and deaths in Chicago,
Nashville, New Orleans, Kansas City. People in in Maine, Florida,
California won't feel much, except economically.
Broken River tells how no one along the Mississippi River
is safe and how 10% of USA GDP is lost in the space of 13 minutes.
Has a big earthquake like
this stuck before?
The 7.9 Scenario is based on
the first of five earthquakes that destroyed the region in 1811
and 1812. Some say the last two were even larger. There are records
of earthquakes happening on the New Madrid Fault for thousands
of years.
When will this earthquake
happen?
I am not a prophet. I let the
US Geological Survey do the predicting: 1 in 10 chance of a giant
earthquake in 50 years; eventually it becomes inevitable. There
is still time to prepare so we can reduce the casualties and
damage.
